Your Embrace

Why I wrote this song ...

Church & Place: Christian Life Centre, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

After losing our baby in 1994, a friend of ours gave us a portrait of Jesus hugging a man as he enters heaven with the verse:-
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5)

I was looking at this portrait one day in 1999 that I felt a strong sense of God's love as He hugs me! I became that man in the picture!

As I hugged Jesus, I see my hands reaching around Him to His back,
Suddenly I felt myself touching the wounds of His scars on His back where He was beaten and scourged.
By His stripes we are healed!

I felt His warm embrace as He re-assures me of His love.
That is why you will see the words "warm embrace" used in more than one of my songs.
Each time I felt it when I was inspired, I would use it!

Your Embrace

Verse 1:
Lord I long to see your face
And to feel your warm embrace
As You hold me close to You
With nail-pierced hands
As I reach my hands to You
I touch those scars on your back
Then I know by your stripes I am healed

You are worthy, Lord, You are worthy
You are holy, Lord, You are holy
Have your way in our midst
Deal with us as You please
Take control in this place
Let us see You face to face, O Lord

Verse 2:
Lord I thank You for Your grace
You are worthy to be praised
And I raise my voice to You
With up lifted hands
You are welcome in this place
Holy Spirit have Your way
I surrender to Your warm embrace
